The Governor's Office for Technology (GOT) has taken significant
strides during the past fiscal year to become a technology leader
for Kentucky's citizens. We
have done that in a number of ways. First, we are examining many
of our processes- the "old way" of doing things- and deciding if
they still make sense in today's environment. We will continue to
do that on an ongoing basis to ensure that the Commonwealth of Kentucky
can conduct the state's business in the most efficient way.
Secondly, we are looking closely at the current technologies we
are using, keeping those that are still serving our needs and retiring
some that are no longer useful. The technology cycles are becoming
shorter, with a new wave of products being delivered every six months.
It is our belief that we do not need to change with every new technology
wave, but that we decide on a statewide basis when the time is right
to make a new technology investment.
Third,
as a GOT management team we have strived and achieved national leadership
roles in our respective offices. This has benefited the Commonwealth
and GOT by helping to position Kentucky as a technology innovator,
and allowing the GOT team to explore a number of ideas and best
practices from other states that have helped us in our environment.
In
2001, GOT developed a Roadmap, our strategic vision for the next
four years. Our vision is to be "Your IT Business Partner of Choice".
One of the guiding principles of our Roadmap is to develop quality
customer relationships with our customers and business partners.
GOT's Roadmap is a living document and is continually being updated
as new and improved goals and objectives arise to meet our business
needs. To get your copy of the GOT Roadmap, click here to send
us your request. To see the most up-to-date GOT Roadmap strategies
and actions from each GOT office, click

you for taking the time to learn more about the Governor's Office
for Technology.
